This doesn’t sound like it should work, but it does!
- Create a document library in the root site collection called “Spelling”.
- Add a text file to that library called “Custom Dictionary.txt”.
- Add the words you would like to include in that you would like the SharePoint spell check functionality to recognize. The words are case-sensitive so you may need to enter the same word twice if there is capitalization involved.
- When you use the Spell Check button in the ribbon on any page, the words you added the text file will be valid words used by the Spell Check functionality in SharePoint.
