Microsoft has announced the preview release of Information Barriers. This feature aids organizations who are seeking to avoid conflicts of interest within your organization. This feature limits which individuals can communicate and collaborate with each other in Microsoft Teams. Information Barriers in Microsoft Teams helps limit the flow of information by controlling communication between the holders of information and colleagues representing different interests.
Information barrier policies can be used for situations like these:
- A day trader cannot call someone on the marketing team
- Finance personnel working on confidential company information cannot receive calls from certain groups within their organization
- An internal team with trade secret material cannot call or chat online with people in certain groups within their organization
- A research team can only call or chat online with a product development team
A compliance administrator defines policies to allow or prevent communications between groups of users in Microsoft Teams.
