Seasoned executive succeeds company founder Kevin Abel
David Hammond, Abel Solutions’ vice president of solutions delivery, has been named president of the SharePoint development and IT services company. As only the second president in Abel’s 23-year history, Hammond will take over operations from founder and immediate past president Kevin Abel, who will remain with the company as a member of its board of directors.
Hammond has served for nearly 12 years as vice president for the company. Before joining Abel, Hammond was founder and president of LaVista Consulting, an information technology solutions firm focused on the energy industry, and VP of operations of LaVista Resources, a recruiting and staffing organization. Prior to that, he served as director of an industry solutions consulting practice with Computer Associates’ Global Professional Services, and held several senior management positions with start-up technology and successful established consulting companies, including Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Complementing his professional achievements, Hammond is also active in the Atlanta community, giving back to professional organizations and local non-profits. He recently joined the board of directors for the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and will be an active participant on the Georgia Technology Summit planning task force. Hammond is a founding member of, has served on the board of since 2004 and is president emeritus of The Drake House, which provides short-term crisis housing, education and empowerment programs for homeless single mothers and their children in North Metro Atlanta. Additionally, in 2007, he served as class chair for Leadership North Fulton, while sitting on the program’s board of directors from 2005-2010. Prior to his work with The Drake House, he served on the board of directors of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce as well as the Forsyth County Judicial Citizens Review Panel.
Hammond is a graduate of Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a 2004 graduate of Leadership North Fulton.
