Abel Solutions Donates Work Day to The Drake House

November 17, 2008

Abel Solutions, a leading Microsoft SharePoint solution provider, celebrated their annual day of community involvement with a work day at The Drake House in Roswell on October 23. Sixteen staff members and contractors pitched in to provide much needed assistance for this crisis center for homeless women and children in North Fulton.

Tasks performed ranged from computer health checks to the more physical efforts of yard work and handyman services. In addition, the team made a significant donation of pantry items.

“Each year we invite our employees and clients to invest their time with a local non-profit organization,” stated Kevin Abel, President of Abel Solutions. “Because of the close ties of one of our executives to The Drake House, our staff elected to help support his commitment by dedicating our annual work day to them.”

The annual community involvement work day has been a long-standing tradition for the staff at Abel Solutions. Past recipients of volunteer services from Abel Solutions have included several projects directed through Hands on Atlanta ranging from Ballethnic Company and McClendon Elementary School to Families First and Jerusalem House.

“Given the team’s enthusiasm for this cause, we’re already looking for additional ways that we can help support this worthy organization,” explained David Hammond, Vice President of Solutions Delivery for Abel Solutions. Hammond is a current board member and one of the founders of The Drake House.

The Drake House

The Drake House is a crisis residential assessment center for homeless women and children in North Fulton. Named to honor Mary Drake, the Roswell native who helped establish North Fulton Community Charities, The Drake House provides immediate residential housing, combined with an empowerment program designed to provide stability for the children and assist the family in working toward housing self sufficiency. The Drake House was founded by the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership North Fulton Class of 2004 and continues to receive support from the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, those founding members and the surrounding community.
