Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) Selects Abel Solutions for SharePoint FastPortal™ Implementation

The Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) has selected Abel Solutions to transition its award-winning intranet to a Microsoft SharePoint portal, using Abel Solutions’ FastPortal™ methodology. The new portal system is expected to improve the ability of DOAS personnel to collaborate on projects, rapidly and securely provide access to necessary information to other state agencies, and enable key leadership to monitor activity across the organization.

The Georgia DOAS offers a wide variety of services to state and local governments, vendors, non-profit organizations, and the general public. Though their existing intranet received the 2005 Best of the Web, Government Internal Category, national award, its ongoing maintenance is becoming an increasing burden on DOAS staff. A standardized platform will allow the department to distribute content management responsibility across the organization. DOAS Chief Information Officer, Todd Cowan, says, “While several of our personnel are already trained on SharePoint, we recognize the value of a company like Abel Solutions, which has a proven approach to getting portals up and running quickly.”
