Abel Solutions Selected to Help John Wieland Homes Improve Efficiency & Access to Resources

John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods has selected Abel Solutions to replace its current, unwieldy intranet with a new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0-based portal system, using Abel Solutions’ innovative FastPortal™ service. The initial phase of the project will rapidly provide more consistent functionality for all employees, including easier access to information and services from the home builder’s Human Resources organization and from Wieland University, the company’s internal training organization. Establishment of the new infrastructure is expected to improve employees’ ability to find and use information from all over the company, as all departments migrate to the new system.
“Our current, custom-developed intranet became very costly to maintain,” notes Dave Cochran, IT Director for John Wieland Homes. “Our IT staff members have had to spend a disproportionate amount of time just keeping the intranet up to date and running. I expect the new system to free them up to focus on the development of customer-oriented, mission-critical business applications.
